Waukegan Regional Airport UGN/KUGN is a general aviation airport designated by the FAA as a reliever airport for Chicago O’Hare International Airport ORD. It was initially named Waukegan Memorial Airport and it has been operated by the Waukegan Port District since 1956.
Situated approximately 35 miles north of Chicago, Waukegan Regional Airport UGN/KUGN is the second busiest airport in Illinois in terms of international arrivals. Part of this volume is due to the fact that the airport has a US Customs office which provides clearances for direct international arrivals
